Teledyne Hastings Instruments

Why do my Hastings mass flow meter and my rotometer (or bubble meter) disagree?

Most of the time, we see this discrepancy because the value the rotometer displays is not corrected for the standard conditions (STP) of the mass flow meter.

Unless a customer specifies their desired standard conditions, Hastings flow instruments are referenced to 0°C and 760 Torr (atmospheric pressure). Typically when a rotometer is measuring at room temperature and the mass flow instrument is referencing 0°C, there is about an 8% difference in readings.
