Most of the time, we see this discrepancy because the value the rotometer displays is not corrected for the standard conditions (STP) of the mass flow meter.
Unless a customer specifies their desired standard conditions, Hastings flow instruments are referenced to 0°C and 760 Torr (atmospheric pressure). Typically when a rotometer is measuring at room temperature and the mass flow instrument is referencing 0°C, there is about an 8% difference in readings.
